– I hadn’t (and still haven’t) seen The Magician, the 2005 movie prequel to this series, but it stands on its own. It’s a fantastically original, off-beat and dryly comedic crime drama about a deadpan enforcer and sometime hitman, who tries to stay out of trouble, look after his kid, and develop a relationship, while solving (mostly) everybody else’s problems.
