The Harder They Fall

– if only as much attention had been paid to finessing the plot as is evident in the stylish choreography and charismatic casting of this slick neo-Western, it might have been something remarkable. Unfortunately, it fails to offer a narrative worthy of all its swagger and polish. It doesn’t have much feel good factor to go with its stompin’ soundtrack either, with mostly unlikeable, untouchable or pompous characters, all destined for their inevitable ends. And yet it’s got distinction, and flare, theatrics even, and that’s worth watching, even if it might ultimately prove a flash in the pan.
