– despite fantastic acting across the board, well intentioned social commentary and a compelling central idea about how fatherhood impacts on life writ large, it’s somewhat infuriating to watch a sympathetic character repeatedly self-flagellate and destroy every opportunity that comes his way. That may be the point, but it doesn’t make for particularly satisfying viewing.
